Christopher

Mommy took us to the zoo today for our last visit before she goes back to work on Thursday. We met Uncle Jeff and Elijah and had a ton of fun. We always try to do different things when we go and today we learned about tortoises....This is Christopher, he is a tortoise from Madagascar...


We listened to the Jr. zookeeper's presentation about tortoises and learned that they differ from turtles in 4 ways:

1. Turtles must live near water, tortoises live in the forest

2. Turtles eat plants and insects, tortoises just eat plants/veggies/fruit

3. Turtles have less heigth to their shells, so they can swim easier, tortoises' shells are more domed

4. Turtles and tortoises have different shaped feet, turtles are more fin shaped, tortoises are more club shaped

We were able to touch Christopher's shell and even caught another pic with him before the zookeeper put him away....since we got to know Christopher so well, we'll be sure look for him on our future visits to the zoo.....
