Sunday-Funday

The girls and I had a great day today (Jason was at the lake helping his Dad).We started the day off with 11am mass and lunch at Moe's. I swear we are averaging 2 meals a week there lately. The girls eat free on Wed and Sundays and I always have coupons, plus we love it. We introduced my sister Julie to Moe's Tuesday and she is now on board. We introduced my brother Jim today and I think we added another member to the Moe's fan club.

Jim, aka Uncle Banana, is in town visiting from Nashville. He just finished his third year of Med school at Vanderbilt and has a few days off before starting 4th year. Jess also came in from Terre Haute for a few days. It is a pretty rare occasion to have us all together anymore, so we decided to snap a picture. Granted, we all had pool hair/bed head, etc.

After lunch, we decided to take advantage of the pool at my mom's Condo. The weather was great today, no humidity and even a breeze. Such a change from the last 2 weeks. The girls swam for almost 2 hours until we made them go in and rest. I was even able to sneak in a nap while Delanie napped and my mom and sisters/brother entertained Emme.

We had Papa Murphy's for dinner, another Oskay family favorite, and then finally headed home to give my mom and brother some peace. Emme was so worn out she feel asleep on the way home.

We are headed to the zoo tomorrow. We haven't been for over a week since the weather has been so hot. Emme starts her second session of swim lessons this week and I also signed Delanie up for lessons, but I will be in the pool with her.

We are gearing up for the 4th. The 4th is Jason's favorite holiday, so he has convinced myself and all our neighbors to let him do a hillbilly firework show in our cul-de-sac. I am excited to finally buy the darn flag cupcake cake that has been in the Target ad for weeks.

Seriously?

Suffice it to say that we (especially my husband) had a great time at the Kenny Chesney Concert at Soldier Field last weekend. Hopefully I can post some more respectable pictures soon.

Another great find by my BFF

I am lucky enough to have some of the most creative and talented friends a wanna be do-it-yourself for cheap decorator can ask for. One of my current projects is painting an antique bedroom set for Delanie's room. While visiting Sarah this weekend I found the perfect handles for the dresser (they were on her's in the twins' nursery). Another great find by my BFF, not surprising to anyone who knows her. I am going to get the knobs tomorrow at my local Home Depot and will post a picture of the finished product.
We also had a great time picking out some accents for Emme's room at Pottery Barn Kids.

PS...the nursery is unbelievable. I kept walking past it just to look inside. Cannot wait until there are babies to fill it!!

Summer To-Do List

Since the summer has begun....so has my summer to-do list. Jason is so excited! (can you sense my sarcasm).
Here is the list:
1. Paint antique dresser and bed for Delanie's room (white)
2. Re-decorate Emme's bedroom (paint, make bedding, pillows, etc.)
3. Buy furniture for office/decorate
4. Re-design and re-construct deck
5. Finish mini-barn that was started in October 2007
6. Clean out garage
7. Add to our landscaping that we started last year

Wish us luck....I will post pictures as we complete our tasks.

**If you didn't know, my mom had been living with us since we moved into our house in Dec 07. She just bought a condo and moved into it in May. She has been having a great time in her own space and we are very excited for her. The girls really miss seeing her every day, but we visit her often as she is just 5 min away. This change means Emme now has her own room and we have an office to furnish. Good changes, but changes nonetheless.**

Our Dancing Queen

We all survived Emme's 1st Dance Recital yesterday. She has been taking a 1/2 hour tap/ballet combo class since the Fall. She has mostly enjoyed herself and I think will take another class this fall. When initially asked about her being in the recital, I said no. Then, I guess I gave in to "Mommy peer pressure" and went along for the recital ride, as all the other kids in her class were going to be participating. So, after an $80 costume (which will be D's halloween costume this year), a $55 recital fee and $15 recital tee-shirt we were official. Although the 5 hour recital was at times painful, all in all, Emme was really excited that they called her name at the end and gave her a certificate. She we even more excited that her Daddy brought her flowers. They are displayed proudly in a vase in her room. We were really thankful to have many family members in attendance to commemerate this important event: Bella, Gammy, Mommy, Daddy, Delanie and Auntie Erin. This experience has opened my eyes to the world of Stage Moms, growing out of dance shoes, recital make-up, and adults who still feel the need to take part in dance recitals-who knew?
Another funny note: three of the five kids in Emme's class are children of a girl Jason grew up with (Ewan and twins Ella and Audrey).
